Schwerpunkt

The Chemistry and Biotechnology (CBT) discipline is an interdisciplinary area that melds the foundational principles of both chemistry and biology to address practical challenges. This curriculum emphasizes understanding the composition, structure, dynamics, and transformation of elements, compounds, molecules, and ions, with a specific focus on their biotechnological applications. Students learn to harness biocatalysts and biomolecules towards forging a sustainable future, grounded in the concepts of biorefining and the principles of a circular economy.

The academic path encompasses modules in organic, inorganic, analytical, and physical chemistry, alongside pertinent mathematics, engineering, and exposure to industrial practices. Through this comprehensive program, students develop a profound grasp of molecular sciences and appreciate the economic relevance of the chemistry and biotechnology sectors.

Upon completion, graduates from the Chemistry and Biotechnology program will possess the necessary knowledge, research competencies, and analytical skills to thrive in careers within the chemistry and biotechnology fields or to advance into further studies at the Master's or Ph.D. level.
